We did look into speedway at Belle Vue this year, but it was extremely difficult to contact suppliers. Down on the list again for next season along with Karaoke at Siam Orchid in November!! Razz Cool Big Grin

Can I ask if the North Manchester Spice local meet is planning another meeting- when I joined originally about a year ago it seemed to meet regularly but I can't find any planned in the next few months. (Possibly because people like me never managed to attend!)

Did they used to meet in a pub in Bolton/ Bury? Not that I can complain about distance since half the events seem to be in Eccles/ North Manchester!

There did used to be a seperate Bolton one (is that correct grammar Confused) but the last few only had 2 or 3 members there so they were wound up.

Maybe we can re-launch them if there is enough interest. Any other takers?

I was tempted by the Skills for the Hills in Central Wales this weekend and also the Safe Hill Walking in Derbyshire.. but I live way up in North Lancs. Any chance of you organising a similar event in the Lakes? I've met several people on Spice walks who would be interested.

Have you seen how popular the Yorkshire ceilidh is Martin. Any likelihood of a similar knees up here. Only style of dancing where i likely to look remotely competent.

We have run these a number of times in the past and they have always been popular here too.

It has been a while though, so it could well be time to get another one sorted.

I went to Go Ape up in Cumbria in the summer, and it seems like the kind of thing Spice would do. It's an assault course which takes place 40-80 feet up in the trees, over about 2-3 hours. I'm not sure if you've done this before I joined but if not I think it would be a good event. Can I also request more meals which aren't on a Tuesday during the week, as if a member has other commitments on that day, all weekday meals are ruled out.

Hi Cazz

We have been to Go Ape in Cumbria, and also the one they have in Bedale in Yorkshire and they are great fun. Better in good weather though so it will be round again in the Spring.

With regards to meals, we do try and spread them round the week in terms of days, although Tuesdays do tend to be "quiet" night for regular events so we do run quite a few on Tuesdays.

However, we have a meal at Buffet City this Friday coming up; our New Members Banquet on Monday 14th November; Christmas Meal at the Market Restaurant on Wednesday 7th December and Oriental Buffet on Friday 16th December, so hope you are able to make one or two of these.

Martin

I'm not sure if this is the right bit of the board to ask this on, but I tried to get to the Bolton Cinema Night tonight but couldn't find it. I went to the Valley leisure complex in Bolton but there was only a Cineworld there rather than a UGC, though there was a Frankie and Bennies nearby. I went in anyway but couldn't see anyone with a clipboard so assumed I was in the wrong place. Where should I have been and how do I get there? Or is the UGC renamed as Cineworld or are they the same?It was on Eagley Brook way.

I can't help you with that cinema as I don't know it but looking at the event listing and what you've written I think you were in the right place. UGC has been rebranded in the last couple of months as Cineworld

Like the polo idea, go ape, how about something on digital photography - would be nice to capture some decent shots of all these events !! Also with all the great theatres in our area be nice to do something seeing behind the scenes.

I'd like to abseil off a Manchester high rise. All the abseil events seem to be for 'beginners' or the 'terrified'. Can't say I'm an expert but I'm certainly not terrified, so lets have a real frightener.

We did do one off the University Arts Tower a few years back. The only problem is that you need to get permission for doing these and they do not grant them to independent groups - usually only to charities so we have to do it in conjunction with a charity who is running one already.

This usually means a fairly high "minimum" donation you have to make - or collect.

Am happy to look round to see if any charities have one coming up though that we can feed on to.

I can provide you with a charity - if you are prepared to do all the organising.
